SDCTE Monthly Poll

September 2002

Topic: SDCTE and You

· Background Information · The Poll ·

This month's poll is an online version of the membership survey SDCTE President Nancy Kampf included in the September 2002 English Notes.  If you have not received the September English Notes--or if you simply prefer responding online--please consider sharing your thoughts with us here.

Nancy's letter:

Dear members of South Dakota Council of Teachers of English,

As we launch another school term in the midst of heat, wind and drought, trying to provide another good start for our rested and refreshed students, our ears are full of No Child Left Behind, online writing test pilots, standards and assessments, teacher joys and stresses in equal abundance.

Our goal as an affiliate in 2002-2003 is to better meet the needs of our members.  That means we need to know what you need SDCTE to do for you — every day— in order to make your teacher life easier and more fulfilling.  We also need to know to what level you wish to become involved in your affiliate.  For those of us in leadership positions, belonging to SDCTE is a priority. We need your help to discover how we might help you to make SDCTE a priority in your life as well. . . .

All of us on the Executive Board at SDCTE want our affiliate to be an organization that encourages, supports and affirms its members.  Your help in accomplishing our goal is essential.

Hoping to hear from you,

Nancy Kampfe

SDCTE President
