October 2001 SDCTE Poll

The October 2001 poll asked members about the role that educational conferences play in their professional lives.  Here is a summary of the results.

Respondents:

Four English educators responded to the poll. 

One of those respondents (25%) teaches at the high school level; the other three (75%) teach at the college or university level.

SDCTE Spring Conference:

One respondent (25%) attends the SDCTE Spring Conference annually.

One respondent (25%) usually attends the SDCTE Spring Conference.

One respondent (25%) attends the SDCTE Spring Conference sporadically.

SDEA Annual Professional Development Conference:

One respondent (25%) attends the SDEA conference annually.

One respondent (25%) usually attends the SDEA conference.

Two respondents (50%) attend the SDEA conference sporadically.

Other Regional Conferences:

One respondent (25%) regularly attends other regional conferences.

One respondent (25%) sometimes attends other regional conferences.

NCTE Annual Conference:

One respondent (25%) attends the NCTE conference annually.

Two respondents (50%) attend the NCTE conference sporadically.

Other National Conferences:

One respondent (25%) regularly attends other national conferences.

One respondent (25%) sometimes attends other national conferences.

Institutional Support:

Two respondents (50%) indicated that their schools encourage them to attend conferences and help fund their travel.

One respondent (25%) indicated that her/his school encourages conference attendance but does not help fund travel.

One respondent (25%) indicated that her/her school does not actively encourage conference attendance.
