South Dakota English Link

Four years ago the Committee of the English Chairs and Writing Directors for all six regental institutions began meeting to take care of academic business affecting English faculty and students throughout South Dakota.  Two years ago, the group created an electronic mail discussion list called SDENGLINK, which was designed to make it easy for the list members to communicate with each other on matters of interest to the group.

Like any email list, messages posted to the list go out to all subscribers. Given the small number of list members, SDENGLINK does not have the critical mass of subscribers needed to sustain many lively discussions relating to teaching English in South Dakota.  Consequently, the English chairs and writing directors decided to open up the list to a wider membership in an effort to make it more lively and valuable.

Therefore, they have authorized Dr. Tim McGee of Dakota State University to publicize this list and extend membership to English and language arts teachers from kindergarten through college to subscribe, in hopes that SDENGLINK will become a forum for meaningful discussion concerning the teaching of English in South Dakota. To join the list, all one has to do is send a one-line email message to the following address:

Make sure to press Return at least once after the one-line message, and remove the signature file.  There is no need to include the email address in the message, because the machine receiving it will automatically use the return address as the place to send all future postings.

The address to post a message after the subscription has been processed successfully will be included in the response.  Those who have difficulty subscribing, contact Tim McGee or Patty Ericsson at the following email addresses:
