Words From the New President

Hello, SDCTE Members.  It is an honor to be your new president.  I approach my job with humility, given the outstanding service of my predecessor, Karen Harrington.

For the past seven years I have been teaching English at Black Hills State University.  My responsibilities have been divided between writing--including technical writing on the Internet--and literature, especially Shakespeare.

My vision of SDCTE is to enlarge our services to members, to building on our established base, and to expand our membership.  We are a diverse group and united we stand stronger.

In March 2000 we will hold a joint convention in Spearfish with the South Dakota Reading Council.  Over 40 sessions and workshops conducted by teachers and authors will draw over 800 participants from across South Dakota and our region.

I encourage you to attend and to invite your colleagues to join SDCTE.

My best,
Roger Ochse, Your new President of SDCTE J
