Want a wonderfully rejuvenating experience this summer? Why not attend the regional
NCTE/NWP conference in Fargo, ND, at the Holiday Inn (1-29 and 13th Avenue), August 4-6?
The conference theme is "generating knowledge by creating our own connections."
The SDCTE Leadership Team has been working with NDCTE officers
and officials from National Writing Project centers in SD, ND and MN since September, 1999, to assemble speakers, presentations and
entertainment for this regional conference on literacy education.
Over 40 authors, educators and
humanities interpreters will lead concurrent sessions, speak or perform during the conference.
Each sponsoring NCTE and NWP affiliate will also provide six presenters for the conference
so there will be a wide variety of sessions available. Formats include demonstrations, impersonations of
historic figures, lectures followed by discussions, readings and storytelling.
Topics include censorship, cowboy poetry, folksongs, Native American stories, literacy and technology, process in reading and writing,
professional challenges, regional writers, standards, and visual literacy.
Most sessions will be interactive.
We urge you to take advantage of this opportunity to
attend a regional conference close by, which offers all the expertise and excellence you
would enjoy if you attended a national conference sponsored by these organizations.
Rejuvenate your teacher motivation . . . come to Fargo in August.
Just in case our statewide mailing missed you, we have included a registration form on the back of our newsletter. Please use any one of the registration options. Help us make this first-ever Midwest regional conference an experience to remember!!
