Teaching reading in high school is everyone's job. This session describes the essence of a typical course in teaching reading in the various disciplines in the secondary school. The course has been a requirement for certification in SD since 1976; yet many teachers, including English teachers, are not too clear about the content and purpose of a reading course. This session will focus on how all teachers can work together to help our students become active and independent readers. There will be a question and answer period to close the sesssion.
