SDCTE sponsored six English roundtables at the annual joint convention in Sioux Falls.
All six sessions were scheduled on Wednesday, August 19th, and each session attracted a good-sized audience.
Participants enjoyed the opportunity to network and share ideas with fellow practitioners.
Special thanks go to the following presenters for sharing their time and expertise:
Donna Fisher from Mitchell, Sharon Olbertson from Beresford, Karen Harrington from Mitchell,
Roger Ochse from BHSU, Maurine Richardson from USD, Vicki Sterling from DSU, and
Deb Bonte from Beresford.
In addition to the interest sessions, SDCTE sponsored a luncheon on
Wednesday. President Harrington presided over the annual business meeting held after the luncheon.
Items included the determination of the date and location of next spring's banquet.
The group then spent time brainstorming possible session topics and potential presenters for the
spring conference.
SDCTE Vice President Roger Ochse volunteered to explore a possible
web site for SDCTE. He is hoping to perhaps piggy back with NCTE's. A web site would allow for constant
updating of the spring conference and other SDCTE activities.
President Karen Harrington is again working on an affiliation with the
South Dakota Reading Council. She has visited with the new president and has been invited to their fall
executive board meeting.
The executive board set October 3 as a meeting date in Chamberlain to
work on completing the program for the spring conference.
