Ann Noyes is SDCTE Young Author of the Year

Ann Noyes is originally from Laramie WY.  She has lived in Brookings for the past eleven years.  This fall she is attending Smith College in Northampton MA.  She has not decided what her major will be as yet, but she is interested in a field in the humanities, perhaps literature.

Anne has been a busy young woman in her high school career.  She was a member of the orchestra for four years and band three years; a varsity player in tennis for four years; a member of Thespians for three years; a member of the technical crew in drama for three years; and a member of the German Club for two years.

Anne also earned an impressive array of honors during her high school years.  Academically, she was on the honor roll for four years, and as an athlete on the tennis team was named the most valuable player for three years.  In music she was selected twice for AIl-State Orchestra as a violinist.  Her writing awards include a first place selection in the SD High School Association, writing contest and being named a South Dakota Young Author by the SDCTE as a result of winning the NCTE English Writing Achievement Award.

Anne Gridley, who also was selected as a South Dakota Young Author, will be featured in the spring issue.
