SDEA/NEA CONVENTION IN REVIEW

SDCTE sponsored six English roundtables at the annual SDEA/NEA Convention in Sioux Falls.  All six sessions were scheduled on Wednesday, August 13, and each session attracted a good-sized audience.  Participants enjoyed the opportunity to network and share ideas with fellow practitioners.  Special thanks go to the following presenters for sharing their time and expertise: Kris Hayes from Deuel, Roger Ochse from Black Hills State University, Karen Harrington from Mitchell, Sharon Olbertson from Beresford, and Dodie Bemis from Watertown.

In addition to the interest sessions, SDCTE sponsored a luncheon on Wednesday.  President Karen Harrington presided over the annual business meeting held after the luncheon.  She introduced the executive board members and Roger Ochse as the new vice president.

Business items included announcing the date and location of next spring's conference, which is March 27-28 at Cedar Shores Resort in Chamberlain.  Linda Hasselstrom will be the featured speaker at Friday night's banquet.  The executive board is in the process of securing presenters for at least eight sessions during the conference.  In addition, a block of rooms has been reserved for SDCTE members at a rate of $62/double occupancy.
