At the August SDCTE Annual Business meeting, members approved the following changes and additions in the SDCTE Constitution:
Article 1, Section 1: The annual membership dues shall be $15.00.
Article 1, Section 4: Per diem expenses of officers of SDCTE may be paid for attendance at leadership conferences, workshops and conventions, subject to appointment and approval of the executive committee.
Article 1, Section 5: NCTE rates for mileage will be paid to executive committee members for attendance at in-state executive committee meetings.
Article 1, Section 2: (in total) The South Dakota Council of Teachers of English welcomes all members, regardless of creed, color, or sex. It is the policy of SDCTE to demonstrate sensitivity to the concerns of nonwhite minorities and to represent nonwhite minorities on all council-sponsored programs.
In addition to these items, the members at the meeting discussed updating the design of a logo for an SDCTE banner, a letterhead, and other business forms. Members will see evidence of the new logo on future communications from SDCTE headquarters and at convention functions.
