OWLs (online writing labs) are university-sponsored sites where students can seek help from tutors. Although most universities' OWLs have limited funding and can only offer tutoring service to their own students, many also provide handouts that are useful--and free--for everyone with web access. Depending on the OWL, handouts may cover a variety of topics, including invention, development, organization, documentation, proofreading, grammar, and punctuation.
